Advanced Courses in Piano Performance, Pedagogy and Research
Helen has created several courses, for advanced pianists (ABRSM Grade 8 + level). A taster course will take place in late July, and trial one-to-one lessons can also be arranged with Helen, at a reduced cost. Please email Helen to disucss the best course for you. All courses include one-to-one lessons (given via Skype), webinars on a range of subjects and ongoing email advice and support.

Helen Reid - Course leader
Helen has over 15 years' experience teaching piano in Higher Education institutes in England, including at Bristol University, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Leeds College of Music. She has also been invited to teach and adjudicate at Trinity College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and Bath Spa University. Her research subjects have included 'Communication in Music Performance' and 'The Psychological Impact of Injuries on Musicians.' 1st - 22nd June - Advanced Adult Piano Course, with Helen Reid and Dr Jonathan James
This course brings together detailed solo piano work and wider issues of repertoire and practice techniques, explored through three webinars. Numbers will be limited, in order to create a real sense of a learning community, where curiosity and interaction with the subjects is welcomed. Each participant will have two x 50 minute piano lessons over the three weeks with Helen. In addition, it is a real pleasure to welcome Dr Jonathan James. Jonathan is a lecturer and workshop leader who has worked with BBC Radio 3 and with the UK's top orchestras and concert venues (

July 20th – August 11th - Course for Advanced Pianists (all ages)

This course is open to pianists of all ages and will cover a range of subjects connected to your technical and musical development, in addition to one-to-one lessons. Questions are welcomed, and the webinars will also be recorded, so you can watch them at a later date. This course can also serve as a taster, for those who may wish to go on and take further courses.

This course is aimed at students in the later stages of their studies at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or advanced adults. The 5 webinars will cover a range of subjects, designed to enhance your technique, musicianship, approach to practice, performance psychology and to give an introduction to piano pedagogy and teaching musicianship to children. Dr Jonathan James will give two webinars exploring Bach's Preludes and Fugues and Beethoven Piano Sonatas.
